The Jasmine revolution has swept most of the areas in the northern part of Africa except for the stubborn dictator, Al Gaddafi. The Leaders of Egypt, Tunisia have stepped down and are not in power any longer. However, it does not look like social change has reached the end.
The political unrest in Libya all started one day in the working place of a housing project operated by the Libyan government. Following event of relatives of died ones in 1996 massacre at Abu Salim being detained has fueled up and was added to the previous case.
Libyan revenue from exporting oil has been on a rise. The income was 89.03 billion in this year as a result of exporting oils. More than 3 billion went up than the last year’s earning, which was around 86billion. A study from CIA World fact book says that the unemployment rate has been steadily increasing in the country. About thirty percents of people in Libya live without a job from 2000 to until now. Now in a situation that unemployment matter has been added up to the course, it has reached a point that country is out of control.
A report of casualty in Libya, announced in February 2011, was up to nearly 300 people. The youngest victim was an eight- month-old baby. He had a misfortune of getting gunshot right in his head. Snipers shooting over people’s head resulted in killing twenty people in Benghazi, the second biggest city of Libya. Medical centers ran out of blood one night when 150 Libyans were taken there. On blood- stained roads people are still gathering around. “Stop the fire, do not harm your brothers and sisters” shout fifty spiritual leaders watching over people on the street.
Al Gaddafi believes that all citizen of Libya is on his side. Blaming the western power as an intruder and a target, he has been crying for a national unity and support for him. Under the pretext of securing his nation from the intrusion of foreign countries he has not left his sit in Libya yet.
However, in recent months army officers started deserting the Gaddafi’s army and running away from him. Pro Gaddafi armies are now diminishing. On top of it all, UN has spotted his allies as targets to gun down. Losing people’s faith in him, he already seems to have lost his half and now lies half exposed to insecurity.
One of deserters from the camp described his stay with the troops as a mission of kill or be killed. He had participated there for money, but decided to come out with remorse without any compassion for the dictator, Al Gaddafi.
Gaddafi is at a stake according to alliances of US and UN. Secretary Clinton of US confirmed the weight of the current situation asserting that she would look for an action from Gaddafi not just words. Air forces from Great Britain and France has been appointed to join the forces of the group in advance. The land of Libya has been destroyed by bombs, and no fly zone was declared by UN so Gaddafi and his aides are well aware of what would happen next.
